Community Builders Workshop Explores How Development Comes Together

On August 29, 2026 community members participated in the Kirkpatrick Heights-Greenwood Community Builders Workshop, a day-long UrbanPlan experience designed to provide a hands-on look at how development decisions are made.
Led by ULI UrbanPlan instructor Quincy Jones, participants worked in teams to develop a vision for a fictional redevelopment area. Throughout the day, teams explored building types, created site plans, worked through a financial model, and revised their ideas with guidance from facilitators. The workshop concluded with each team presenting its proposal to a mock City Council, which evaluated the plans and selected a winning proposal.
The workshop gave participants an opportunity to experience some of the real-world considerations that shape development, including balancing community goals, land uses, financial feasibility, and competing priorities. These are many of the same types of considerations that come into play as the Kirkpatrick Heights-Greenwood Master Plan moves from a community vision toward implementation.
Thank you to everyone who spent the day learning, collaborating, and sharing ideas. Opportunities for continued community learning and involvement will be shared through the Our Legacy Tulsa website as implementation work moves forward.
Thank you for your contribution!
